- Moving furniture away from the walls and clearing anything on shelves or hanging on the walls helps, but we dust-sheet the floor and any furniture that's left before we start mixing plaster. For a full ceiling skim, it's worth clearing the room completely if you can, since plaster dust settles everywhere once sanding starts.
